Eye Safety

We care deeply about our customers eye safety. Therefore we check our LED lights regarding photobiological safety - more than is actually legally required - and monitor latest scientific research closely. Yet there are few to no clinical observations of thermal retinal damage caused by LED radiation. In recent statements LEDs’ retina thermal hazard (RTH) has even been classified as non-critical at all. Also state-of-the-art application standards, like IEC/TR 62778 consider blue light hazard (BLH) only. But even the BLH of LED lights is not expected to exceed exposure time that poses any significant health risks, due to the eye’s aversion reaction. Otherwise it would be considered abnormal behavior. As a matter of principle, however, it should be mentioned that when staring at bright light sources, temporary reduction in visual acuity and afterimages can occur, leading to irritation, annoyance and even visual impairment. Therefore we recommend our customers to avoid directly staring into operating headlamps in all use cases.
